ALLIED IRISH BANK (GB) FUNDS LANDMARK SCHEMEA Nottingham development company has turned to Allied Irish Bank (GB) to fund a £40 million waterside mixed use development on the southern edge of the city. The scheme, by Southreef Properties Ltd and located in Canal Street in Nottingham, will see the construction of 240 waterside apartments alongside 55,000 sq ft of office and commercial space with two levels of underground parking. The development is Southreef’s first project and it has been funded by Allied Irish Bank (GB)’s Nottingham branch. The team behind Southreef Developments are Charles and William Fish, who have significant experience as joint venture developers, architect Andy Grogan and Anthony Price,a quantity surveyor. Gerry McPake, Business Manager at Allied Irish Bank (GB)’s Nottingham branch, said the deal was extremely attractive to the bank and was the culmination of a long standing relationship with some of the directors of the new company. He said: “Southreef have devised a scheme which is creative and which will have significant architectural impact. It is in a great location within easy walking distance of the heart of Nottingham and the city’s transport links. The waterside element to the scheme is also very striking and we share the directors’ optimism of the commercial viability of the project. “Southreef is a forward thinking company with an different and creative approach which we feel bodes very well not just for this development but also going forward into the future. “We have worked with some of the directors of the firm in the past so they knew the service that Allied Irish Bank (GB) could deliver.” The development will be made up of 240 apartments ranging from studios to one, two and three-bedroomed properties. Southreef Developments have pre-sold 100 of the apartments to Metropolitan Housing, a housing association, and a further 24 to a private investor. The rest of the scheme will also be put on the open market but long term Southreef Developments will continue to own and manage the estate through a permanent on-site office. Andrea Richardson, sales director at Southreef Developments, said: “While this is Southreef Development’s first scheme, Allied Irish Bank (GB) recognised the experience within the company and gave us every possible support through the process. We look forward to this continuing as the development programme gets under way in earnest.” |
